Low Steppa, Crusy – BFG
This might actually be my favourite record to play at the moment, my new track ‘BFG’ with Crusy. It just has all the ingredients for me, fat bassline, beats with groove, old school stabs and fun build ups to play with.
I’ve been caning this in my sets since last summer, it’s so much fun to play and its great to be releasing this one with Toolroom, who are actually the first label I ever released with back in the day!
Daft Punk – Burnin’
I think hearing this record at the start of my DJ days, and learning to mix using Daft Punk‘s ‘Homework‘ album really paved the way for me. It’s still such a great record to play out and still has so much energy.
Timmy P & Lucas Alexander – Trust
This record really does it for me. The beats, the bassline, the dark pads in the breakdown, just love everything about this one. It really encapsulates that deep jackin sound.
Phil Weeks – Superfly
I’m a big fan of Phil Weeks and his Robsoul Recs label. This a recent one from him which I absolutely love, slammin kick drum and sample, its just a vibe. A really great tune to warm things up with and I think it’s a timeless and classy cut.
E-Smoove – The Guitar
This record still sounds as beautiful as it did 23 years ago when I had it on vinyl. It takes me right back to a time when I was discovering all this amazing music, a magical time for me. I was cutting my teeth as a DJ at the time in Bristol, hanging out in record shops and making friends with other people who loved the same music, a really special era for me and for me House Music.
Pepe Bradock – Deep Burnt
This will always be one of those greatest records of all time to me, it could play on repeat forever. Again, another record that I can listen to now and be reminded of all the magic and memories of House Music and why I’m still here doing it today.
Lucien Foort, Martijn Ten Velden – Bleeep!
A big record from back in the day on Toolroom, my friends used to cane this one back in my Bristol days. We had many a moment with this record, the build up is phenomenal! I think it would still rock the club today, big love to you Alex this ones for you.
Mark Picchiotti & Jersey Street – Love Will Be Our Guide (Hott 22 Dub Mix)
This record reminds me of my first trip to Ibiza around 2003/2004. I can listen to this right now and remember the magic and excitement of being on the island for the first time. Still probably the best holiday I’ve ever had and this record is the soundtrack to that.
